Mumbai: Central Railway track staffer detects rail fracture, prevents mishap

MUMBAI: The presence of mind shown by a Central Railway (CR) staffer working on tracks as a keyman helped detect a major rail fracture on Sunday morning.
The keyman, Bhausaheb Kangne was posted on duty on Sunday morning near the Parsik tunnel which comes after Thane station. During his inspection around 10.20 am, he noticed a major rail fracture and alerted his superiors who in turn informed the control room to stop trains along the route.
While the trains on Down fast were halted, they were subsequently given diversions to the Down slow line. During this period, the technical staff arrived at the spot and repaired the fracture before the trains were allowed to run on the Down fast line.
