Mumbai airport’s main runway operational again

MUMBAI: The Mumbai airport’s main runway became operational Friday evening, more than 80 hours after a SpiceJet aircraft got stuck in it leading to its closure.

The aircraft was removed from the runway at 3:41 in the evening. The runway was operationalised at 4:47 pm.

A 60 member team from the airport worked over 90 hours to retrieve the plane. A team from Air India lifted the plane out of the slush and muck formed around the runway due to heavy rains since Monday. The airport team created pathways to facilitate the disabled aircraft to be pulled onto firm ground.
