Mumbai: Adani Electricity to procure 1500 MW power, 51% from renewable sources

MUMBAI: Adani Electricity, which caters to 31 lakh power consumers in suburbs, has announced that it has commenced the process to procure 1,500 MW power of which a minimum 51% will come from renewable energy sources.

This procurement will allow the company to meet future demand in Mumbai — with demand growing at an average 4% annually, sources said.

A senior official from the company said : “Since Adani took over the Mumbai power distribution business in October 2018, it has increased share of renewable energy from a meagre 3% to 30%, with a further commitment to scale renewable energy supply to 60% by 2027.
