Minister reviews mechanism for generation, scheduling of thermal power

Issues that slow down the mechanism that allows flexibility in generation and scheduling of thermal power plants need to be ironed out, said Minister of State (MoS) (Independent Charge) for Power and Renewable Energy, RK Singh.

Singh said this at a review meeting to discuss implementation of the mechanism issued by Ministry of Power for providing flexibility in generation and scheduling of thermal power stations to reduce emissions.

Under the mechanism, a ‘generating company’ may establish or procure renewable energy generating capacity anywhere in the country and utilise such renewable capacities for supplying the power against existing commitments. There were certain issues which required resolution for smooth implementation of the above mechanism, an official statement said.
