Mining reforms to increase employment, GDP: Ficci

The reforms in the mining sector will play a fundamental role in enhancing the sector’s contribution to the employment and GDP of the country, and contribute immensely to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, industry body Ficci said on Saturday.

The Lok Sabha on Friday passed a bill to amend the Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Act, that aimed to create employment opportunities by allowing the entry of private enterprise and enhanced technology in mining activities.

The bill is yet to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha.

The industry body said that it has always been advocating for increasing the contribution of Indian Mining industry to national GDP; focusing upon increasing mineral exploration, production and domestic supplies,
