Military action in one part of world led to fuel price hike, says Govt

Fuel prices were hiked following rise in international oil prices because of “unsettled condition and military action in one part of the world”, petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Efforts were on to ensure people get fuel products at affordable prices, he claimed.

Answering a question on the spiraling fuel prices, Puri said the prices of liquefied natural gas in the international market, compared from April 2021 to February 2022, “has gone up by more than 37%” because of “an unsettled condition and military action in one part of the world following the Covid crisis… our increase at the bunk has been only 5%.”
