MUMBAI: Mumbai Metro’s ridership, which operates between Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar, has reached the 2 lakh mark for the first time since the pandemic set in but it is still well short of the pre-covid numbers.
During the pandemic R-Infra’s Mumbai Metro One remained non-operational for 211 days (March 22, 2020 to October 18, 2020).
A Mumbai Metro One Private Ltd (MMOPL) official said, “From beginning of December 2021 weekday ridership of Mumbai Metro One improved to around 200,000 with highest post pandemic ridership of 202,536 on December 7.”
Before the pandemic, the operational hour was 5.30 am to 11. 30 pm as ridership was 4.5 lakh per day. Currently metro services are avail between 06:30 am and 11:15 pm
After resumption of services on October 19, metro one registered ridership of 12,738 only and gradually grew to reach over 100,000 on weekdays of February – March 2021.
