BPCL ties up with BARC for green hydrogen production
Privatisation-bound Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) on Monday said it has tied up with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for an electrolyser technology for green hydrogen as it looks to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
BPCL’s Chairman A K Singh said the oil refining and fuel marketing company plans to scale up indigenous alkaline electrolyser technology for use in refineries via collaboration with BARC. An electrolyser splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity. For green hydrogen, renewable energy is used for electrolysis.
