The BJP has targeted the State Government over illegal coal mining in the State. State BJP legislative party leader and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, raising the issue of Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) Gopinathpur abandoned mines mishap incident where five persons lost their lives blamed the state government and coal company for the tragedy.
Marandi said that based on the spot inspection of mines at Gopinathpur, Kapasara and Dahibara mines it clearly shows how illegal mining and smuggling of coal takes place in an organized manner. The BJP leader further said that based on inputs provided by local people it has come to fore that the state government is behind the illegal loot of coal in the region.
