‘Make in India’, rural electrification to push up power demand: Piyush Goyal

Demand for electricity will increase manifold with implementation of central schemes like ‘Make in India’ and rural electrification, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday.

Goyal said the power sector in India is focusing on environment sustainability and NTPC has taken a lead by preserving the flora and fauna in and around its power stations.

The government aims to increase use of clean technologies and renewable energy for power generation, Goyal said.
