MUMBAI: The number of industrial consumers of state power utility MSEDCL has increased by 2,193, indicating that industries were willing to stay in Maharashtra due to “reliability and affordability of power”, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Sources said that the government was keen on ensuring that industries do not shift to neighbouring states “in search of cheaper and reliable power supply”. MSEDCL managing director Vijay Singhal said, “We have seen a rise in consumers opting for industrial connections. This has led to an increase in supply to 4,101 million units on an average every month.” In 2021-22, the total consumption of industrial consumers was 46003 million units, which came to an average monthly consumption of 3,833 million units.
In comparison, during the eight months between April and November, the total consumption by state industries was 32,808 million units, which comes to an average 4,101 million units per month, he said.
