Maharashtra govt to import coal to tide over load shedding crisis: Ajit Pawar

Amid a power crisis, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government is considering importing coal to avoid load-shedding.

Over the last couple of days, Maharashtra chief minister has held a series of meetings to review the situation and asked the administration to make necessary arrangements so that people do not have to face difficulties during the summer.

“The government has decided to import coal,” deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, who holds the finance and planning portfolios, told reporters.

Besides, the government is also looking at acquiring a coal mine in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
