Mahanadi Coalfields Limited orders wage cut for striking workers
KOLKATA: Coal Indias subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has ordered an eight-day wage cut for workers who went on a three-day strike from July 2 to protest against private competition, a notice issued by MCL said.
The MCL had termed the strike as illegal.
Most of the 20,000 workers did not report for work during the strike, sources said.
This was the second time that wages are being deducted for a strike.
