Mahanadi Coalfield workers’ strike called off, company to not cut wages
Kolkata: The management of Coal India NSE 1.82 %, subsidiary, Mahanadi Coalfields, will withdraw an 8-day salary cut notice if its workers’ unions make good the production loss suffered during a recent three-day strike. The unions have also decided to withdraw a strike called on July 24 to protest salary cuts.
S C Pradhan, general secretary of INTUC’s arm at the subsidiary said the workers would make up for the losses and withdraw the strike.
The company wanted to cut wages for the three-day strike called against private competition.
