Less alternating, more direct, power plan?

Power minister R K Singh has assured that Indian consumers will not have to deal with an energy crisis. A plan to build more coal power plants and revive gas-based plants while addressing issues of import costs and solar capacities, and encouraging industry to use renewables, all seem part of GoI’s plan. There are elements, some of which seem at cross purposes, but there is no articulation of a plan that sees the transformation of the electricity sector’s footprint from high carbon to clean.
