The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has effected a hike in power tariff for industrial and commercial consumers in the State.
KERC Chairman Shambhu Dayal Meena announced the new tariff structure on Thursday and said the penal charges of Rs. 1 per unit would continue for consumption during peak hours (6 am to 10 am; and 6 pm to 10 pm).
Commercial rates
For LT commercial category users, the increase in tariff is 25 paise per unit. The new tariff in urban local bodies, including BBMP (Bengaluru city) and City Municipal Corporation areas in all ESCOMs will be Rs. 8 per unit (existing rate Rs. 7.75) for the first 50 units and Rs. 9 per unit (existing rate Rs. 8.75) for consumption beyond 50 units.
