Jakhar: White elephants of Akalis responsible for hike in power tariff

Coming to the defence of his party’s Government on the issue of power tariff hike, Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar on Friday categorically said that the ‘white elephants’ of Akali Dal were responsible for the enhancement of power rates in the State.

Jakhar, interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of investiture ceremony of newly appointed Punjab Agro Industries Corporation chairman Joginder Singh Mann, said that in form of thermal plants set up by the

Akali Government, underutilised assets were created just to corner benefit to the private players.

These were the real white elephants of the State, he added.
