Industrial power tariff hike evokes sharp reactions from SAD, BJP
The announcement by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to increase the tariff (by 50 paise) for industrial consumers from April 1 has evoked sharp reactions from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the BJP. Both the parties are demanding withdrawal of the power tariff hike.
SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal in a statement said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has betrayed the industrial sector by increasing the tariff despite promising to supply power to the sector at the rate of Rs 5 per unit.
