IndiGo expects 3-6 month delay in A321neo plane delivery

NEW DELHI : Budget carrier IndiGo expects a three-six month delay in delivery of Airbus A321neo planes, key to its overseas expansion, a top executive of the airline said.

“The delivery of A321neo planes are expected to slow down… They (A321neo planes) are made in Hamburg where there are some (industrial) disturbances,” said Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, president and chief operating officer at InterGlobe Aviation Pvt Ltd, adding that the production interruption was temporary.

The airline’s overseas expansion plans, including increasing frequencies on existing routes, could be temporarily hit due to the delay in deliveries of A321 aircraft as top officials maintain that purchasing ‘wide body aircraft’ is still an aspiration for the airline.
