IndiGo cancels 33 flights at Mumbai airport, blames operational challenges
Mumbai: IndiGo cancelled 33 flights at Mumbai airport up until Wednesday evening, even as the majority of its scheduled departures ran late, leaving the airport packed with hundreds of stranded passengers. The airline attributed the disruptions to ‘unforeseen operational challenges” and said the affected passengers were offered alternative travel arrangements or refunds.
At Mumbai airport, IndiGo cancelled 16 arrivals and 17 departures by 5 pm, said aviation sources. Of the 58 departures scheduled until that time, 51 were delayed, indicating a system-wide impact on punctuality. With IndiGo holding a 65 percent market share, the punctuality record of Mumbai airport plummeted.
