India’s latest pilot fatigue management rules have thrown IndiGo’s operations into turmoil this week, exposing the challenges of adapting to stricter safety regulations. The country’s largest airline admitted that inadequate planning for the new roster requirements led to widespread flight disruptions across India.
The regulations, initially proposed in early 2024, were rolled out in two phases this year, with the final implementation date set for November 1. “Lack of proper planning ultimately led to disruptions this week,” IndiGo acknowledged.
