India’s diesel sales rise 48% in first two weeks of June

India’s diesel demand rose at a rapid pace during the first two weeks of June, preliminary data released on Wednesday showed, and long queues appeared at some fuel stations as concerns grew over supply.

Retailers sold 3.4 million tonnes of gasoil from June 1 to 14, up 47.8% from the same period a year earlier and 12% from the same period last month, the data showed. Sales of diesel were 1.28 million tonnes, up 54.2% year-over-year.
