Indian retail prices of petrol & diesel unchanged for 36th day straight

There has been no change in the retail prices of petrol and diesel in India for the 36th day despite global crude oilNSE -3.87 % prices witnessing weakness in the last two months owing to slackening of demand.

Petrol price in Delhi continued at Rs 69.59 per litre for the 36th day while diesel prices stood at Rs 62.29 per litre. Petrol and diesel prices are revised daily. Fuel prices are the cheapest among all metros in Delhi due to lower taxes. There has been a complete freeze on basic price of oil for the last 36 days except for Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata where VAT was hiked by Rs 1-1.5 per litre, according to a Times Now report.

Global crude oil prices have declined owing to a glut in global oil markets. Economic activity has come to a standstill worldover owing to lockdowns to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic leading to a huge fall in oil demand.
