Indian Railways’ Mission Raftaar gathers steam, New Delhi-Mumbai and New Delhi-Howrah routes set for speed enhancement

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday (December 6) announced that the New Delhi-Mumbai and New Delhi-Howrah routes of the Golden Quadrilateral are undergoing improvements to enhance their speed potential under Mission Raftaar. The mission, introduced in the Railway Budget of 2016-17, aims to increase the average speed of freight and superfast mail/express trains.

“Mission Raftaar was announced in the Railway Budget of 2016-17 with the target of increasing the average speed of freight and superfast mail/express trains,” Vaishnaw said.
