Domestic airlines registered about 11.03% growth in passengers flown during November compared to same month that a year ago, data released by the aviation regulator showed.
As per the data, released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday, Indian carriers carried 11.6 million passengers during the month, up from 10.5 million in November 2017.
Gurgaon-based SpiceJet continued to maintain its pole position in terms of load factor by flying its planes 91.1% full, followed by GoAir, which flew its planes with 87.6%. These airlines were followed by AirAsia India, which flew its planes with 86.5% seats full.
“This is the 44th successive month that we have flown with the highest loads in the country. At SpiceJet, it has always been our endeavour to provide world-class services to our customers and the numbers stand testimony to the faith and appreciation that our customers have instilled upon us,” Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Sales & Revenue Officer, SpiceJet, said in a statement.
In terms of operating flights on time, GoAir topped the list by operating 87% of its flights on time closely followed by Vistara that operated 86.1% flights on time. These airlines were followed by IndiGo that operated 79.2% of its flight on time.
IndiGo maintained its dominance in the market in terms of passenger carriage by flying 43% of the total passengers during the month of November. Jet Airways followed IndiGo in terms of market share, by flying 14.3% of the passengers flown during the month. SpiceJet was the third largest carrier in terms of market share, accounting for 12.5% of the passengers flown during the month.
