India needs more capacity in future to meet rising power demand: Power Minister RK Singh
India has a pressing need to add capacity to meet the growing demand of electricity and there will be no phasing or shutting down of coal-based power plants to ensure availability for economic growth, Power Minister RK Singh said on Monday.
“We have successfully met 241 GW peak capacity, but we are on the edge. If the demand keeps increasing, then we will not be able to meet [the rising peak demand]. And, it is increasing,” Singh said while addressing the state power ministers’ meeting in the capital.
