Increased power offerings at the Indian Energy Exchange pulls down previous day’s peak price by half
KOLKATA: Increased supplies from wind power generators and a fall in demand in certain pockets, pulled down Tuesday’s highest electricity prices of Rs 8.85 per unit touched during the 8 pm – 9pm slot, by nearly half, at the Indian Energy ExchangeNSE 0.10 %. Settled price of Rs 8.85 per unit was the highest in any slot over the last several weeks.
On Tuesday, wind power generators produced more than 100 million units, one of the highest generating days in the season pulling down prices it increased supplies dampening prices for the day.
