Increase low visibility operations window at IGI Airport, airlines told

NEW DELHI: Following the early onset of fog and the consequent flight disruptions, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked airlines to increase the window of low-visibility operations to and from Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Airlines need to mandatorily roster pilots trained for CAT-IIIB landing and low-visibility takeoff at IGI Airport for 13 hours daily between 9pm and 10am from December 10 to February 10. “We have directed airlines to constantly monitor the weather and increase this window of rostering pilots trained to operate in fog to and from Delhi when there is a declining visibility trend by planning early,” DGCA chief Arun Kumar said.
Kumar has asked the airlines to “ensure proactive interaction with the operations control cell at IGI, which is run by Delhi Airport with Airports Authority of India (that provides air navigation services) as a member”.
