‘ICAO audit establishes SpiceJet’s credentials as a safe airline:’ Ajay Singh

NEW DELHI: SpiceJet on Monday said the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) audit of India’s aviation safety oversight mechanism last month has found the budget carrier’s “operations, safety processes and systems to be in order.” Teams from the UN’s aviation arm had gone to Delhi Airport; IGI Airport air traffic control; Airport Authority of India’s communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) wing; budget carrier SpiceJet and charter operator Indo Pacific Aviation Pvt Ltd for field visits to conduct validation checks. Basically, they checked whether these places were following the rules in place.

“The comprehensive audit by ICAO firmly establishes SpiceJet’s credentials as a safe airline. SpiceJet was the only scheduled Indian airline part of the audit conducted by ICAO under Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) Continuous Monitoring Approach. The audit of SpiceJet safety systems helped India achieve its highest ever safety ranking in ICAO audit,” the airline said in a statement on Monday.
