Hyderabad Metro witnesses record 5.1 lakh single-day ridership

HYDERABAD: In a major milestone post pandemic, the Hyderabad Metro Rail achieved its highest ever ridership on Monday by clocking 5.10 lakh passengers.

As per the calculation method used by Government of India for calculating passenger trips, this amounts to 6.80 lakh passenger trips, said NVS Reddy, managing director of the Hyderabad metro rail.

The metro service which was launched in November 2017 took about six years to achieve the milestone. According to a detailed breakup from HMRL, the busiest line is the red line, with Miyapur to LB Nagar clocking 2.60 lakh passengers, followed by the blue line from Nagole to Raidurg which saw 2.25 lakh passengers. The least footfall was on the green line with only 25000 passengers.
