Hydel reservoirs in Kali backwaters, other spots to get floating solar parks

BENGALURU: After having set up the world’s third largest solar park near Pavagada in Tumakuru district, Karnataka is now planning to pull off yet another feat – Mega floating solar parks in the backwaters of hydroelectric reservoirs across the state.

Planning to augment the state’s generation capacity after a hiatus of six years since the commissioning of Yermarus thermal power station in Raichur, energy minister KJ George recently approved setting up of 270 Mw solar power projects in the first phase.
