Hybrid power plant of Rajasthan supplies green power to Mumbai
MUMBAI: Tata Power Green Energy’s 225 MW hybrid power project in Rajasthan has begun supplying green power to Mumbai from Wednesday.
With this, the utility firm’s non-carbon power supply to Mumbai consumers will rise to 38% this financial year and it will meet its Renewable Purchase Obligations, said an official. The power firm has over seven lakh consumers in the city.
This is the first hybrid project which was developed by Tata Power consisting of a recently commissioned solar power plant at Noorsar in Rajasthan and existing wind assets of 96MW which is expected to generate about 700 MUs of energy per year. “The plant will annually offset approximately 700 million Kg of CO2,” he said.
