How traditional power behemoths are transitioning to renewable energy

In September, Gautam Solar saw the sun shine. The Delhi-based company that makes solar panels, batteries, lights and fans, made it to the list of 34 approved module manufacturers, whose products will be used in government-assisted solar power projects across the country. While it is a policy measure to support local power systems manufacturers, the tag of being a government-approved supplier opens a world of opportunities for this family business. “We are a product-oriented company and have invested a lot in manufacturing. Companies like ours will be able to make solar power systems that are comparable with the best in the world,” says Shubhra Mohanka, director, Gautam Solar.
