Hindalco, Texmaco to make aluminium rail wagons, coaches; to invest Rs 200 cr

Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco Industries and Texmaco Rail & Engineering have entered into a strategic alliance to develop and manufacture aluminium rail wagons and coaches for the Indian Railways, the companies said in a statement.

The companies estimate that the project will entail an investment of around Rs 200 crore.

The companies are looking to explore manufacturing opportunities under ‘Mission 3000 MT’ launched by Indian Railways, which aims to meet a demand of 3000 metric tonnes of freight by the year 2027.
