High fuel prices a burden; Centre, states should discuss fuel taxes, says Finance Minister

Consumers have a case for lower fuel prices but the Centre and states will have to discuss the issue as both levy duties on petroleum products, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Friday. She said it was up to the GST Council to bring petroleum products under the ambit of the goods and services tax (GST).
