Helmet wearing on NH in city mandatory

In the wake of a series of fatal road accidents involving two-wheelers on the flyovers connecting Khandagiri and Rasulgarh on National Highway-16 here in the recent past, the Khordha district administration has made it mandatory for bike riders to wear helmets while commuting on the highway.

A communiqué in the regard was issued by Khordha Collector BS Poonia on Tuesday.

It is mandatory for two-wheel riders to wear helmets during movement on the highway, failing which they will be liable for action as per the law.

Keeping a close vigil on the situation, the traffic police would patrol and use CCTV cameras at the black spots to monitor the movement of the bikers, sources said.
