HC: Will BMC repair Aarey roads as per govt norms?

Mumbai: Bombay high court on Thursday directed the BMC to inform whether it will repair pothole-ridden internal roads of Aarey Milk Colony (AMC), Goregaon (East), by following the Centre’s norms laid for construction of roads in forest lands.

A bench led by Acting Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar heard a petition by Binod Agarwal, a local resident, on the poor condition of some 45km of roads and to direct repairs and maintenance according to Indian Road Congress specifications.

Agarwal argued that it takes 1 hour for an ambulance to travel 2km and school buses take 2 hours for the same distance.
