Green energy companies seek High Court directions to Andhra Pradesh

NEW DELHI: Renewable energy companies have approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking directions to the state from curtailing generation from wind and solar power plants.

The state is continuing with its practice of backdown of renewable energy plants though they enjoy a ‘must-run’ status. The companies are frustrated as the curtailment starts around the time when wind speed is high and the plants can generate up to full capacity.

Andhra Pradesh is curtailing generation from its wind and solar plants and instead ramping up production from coal-fired stations.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has asked the state grid managing agency, called the state load despatch centre, to publish report on curtailment from renewable energy plants at least once a week.
