Greek PM announces more measures to tackle energy crisis, inflation

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced a package of measures including raising the minimum wage and pensions to further help households and businesses tackle the energy crisis and high inflation.

The package, consisting of 21 measures, includes more subsidies for power bills and heating costs in addition to the 8 billion euros ($8.12 billion) allocated in recent months, Xinhua news agency reported.

Greece will also cut taxes and raise the minimum wage and pensions, which will come into effect by the end of this year and in 2023.

Pensions will see for the first time in over a decade an increase, and the gross minimum monthly salary will also further rise, he announced.
