Govt cracks whip on illegal coal mining
A joint team of four departments in the Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday raided the coal washeries and coal depots across the state and began an investigation into charges of illegal mining.
A government official said the joint teams of Mining, Revenue, Environment and GST departments raided all the coal washeries and coal depots in Korba, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa and Raigarh districts.
They raided Hind Energy, Hind Multi and Clean Coal washeries in villages Gatora and Hingadih and the Satya Power Coal Washery and Feel Washery in Gatauri village.
A total of 10 investigation teams had been constituted which include 50 officials, the official said. The investigation continued till late evening.
