Govt amends rules, exempts captive projects from transmission licence

The Centre has exempted captive power generators and consumers having minimum 25 kW of load for interstate transmission and energy storage systems to establish, operate and maintain dedicated transmission lines without the requirement of licence.

The power ministry has amended the Electricity Rules to allow the exemption. The new rules also apply to consumers having a minimum 10 kW load for intrastate transmission systems.
