Government lowers estimate for surplus power, citing data entry error
The government has lowered its estimate of surplus energy during peak hours this fiscal to 2.6%, citing error in data entry.
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the technical planning body in the power sector, had earlier estimated that peak-hour energy surplus in 2016-17 would be 3.1%.
CEA’s estimate for surplus power of 1.1% during non-peak hours remains unchanged.
