Government discontinues fuel throughput fee at airports

NEW DELHI : The government has discontinued levying of ‘airport operator charge’ or ‘fuel throughput charge’ at airports, heliports and airstrips across the country, according to a Ministry of Civil aviation circular.

Fuel throughput fee is the payment made by fuel suppliers to the airport developer.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation circular, which is addressed to Balwinder Singh Bhullar, Chairperson of Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA), Rubina Ali, joint secretary at the ministry, revenue loss due to the discontinuation of airport operator charge or fuel throughput charge will be compensated to all airport operators including Airports Authority of India (AAI), by AERA and Ministry of Civil Aviation.
