Global flights after 2 years: How Delhi’s IGI airport is bracing for action
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has asked the government to deploy more immigration officials so that more counters can be manned from Sunday when regular international flights resume after a gap of over two years. The operator of India’s busiest airport has also sought the deployment of CISF personnel, who were rationalised during the lean pandemic period, be taken back to pre-Covid levels.
Along with increased use of automation at pre-embarkation security check points, the idea is to speed up processes at the usual pain points — terminal entry, check-in, security check, immigration and customs — when the footfall increases from next month.
