Generators offer 30% less power for Friday night delivery at power exchange
Kolkata: Generators offered to sell almost 30% less power at the Indian Energy ExchangeNSE -0.03 % than its demand between 8 pm and 12 midnight on Friday. Power was traded between Rs 4.13 per unit and Rs 5.60 per unit during the four-hour period while the day’s average market price was Rs 3.20 per unit as electricity was sold cheaper during the rest of the day when supplies were higher than demand.
The trade was settled at a day-ahead market on Thursday where generators offered to sell 35.45 million units of power at the exchange while utilities wanted to buy 44.42 million units jacking up prices between 8 pm and 12 midnight.
