GAIL’s Sanjay Kumar is new IGL chief

NEW DELHI: Executive director of GAIL, Sanjay Kumar, has taken over as the managing director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the country’s largest natural gas distribution company operating CNG and PNG services in 30 districts across three states and the national capital.
A mechanical engineering graduate from IIT-Kharagpur and an MBA, Kumar takes over from A K Jana, who has been repatriated back to parent GAIL before superannuation.
Kumar has 34 years of experience in the gas sector and is credited with setting up GAIL’s overseas LNG (liquefied natural gas) trading subsidiary, GAIL Global (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. This was the first such subsidiary created by any public sector oil and gas company.
