Four months after VVIP chopper deal, middleman discussed another aircraft deal

New Delhi: An alleged correspondence discussing another aircraft deal may spell further trouble for Christian Michel, the alleged middleman in the Rs 3,600-crore VVIP chopper scandal.

Four months after helicopter manufacturer M/s AgustaWestland bagged the Rs 3,600 crore VVIP chopper deal, Michel wrote to another alleged middleman and co-accused – Guido Haschke – warning him to “lie low” after their “recent success”, people with direct knowledge of the matter have told ET.

The despatch, dated May 2, 2010, is being looked into by the investigative agencies, the people said.

Michel, who has been charged in the chopper scandal, warned Haschke that US aircraft maker Sikorsky, a competitor in the helicopter deal, was chasing them.
