Foreign tours for Karnataka’s govt school heads if admission targets met

BENGALURU: In a major push to boost enrolment in government schools across Karnataka, the Department of School Education and Literacy has rolled out a new incentive programme that offers foreign study tours to school heads and departmental officials who successfully achieve significant gains in admissions.
As part of the initiative, schools and officials must craft and implement strategies to raise enrolment by at least 15% in 2026–27 compared to 2025–26 across all government schools and PU colleges. The targets are higher for Karnataka Public Schools and PM Shri Schools, which have been asked to achieve a 25% increase over the previous year.
