Flyer smuggles Rs 1.5 crore diamonds, held at Mumbai airport
MUMBAI: A man from Null Bazar in south Mumbai who smuggled diamonds worth Rs 1.5 crore hiding inside a branded tea powder was detained by the Customs at the Mumbai International airport on Wednesday morning.
The Air Intelligence Unit of Customs on Wednesday intercepted a passenger identified as Mukkim Raza Ashraf Mansuri who arrived from Dubai by a SpiceJet flight.
The examination of his hand baggage resulted in the recovery of a suspicious tea packet of a major brand. On opening the packet, the agency found eight small pouches containing 34 diamonds.
