LUCKNOW: An afternoon flight with 148 passengers heading Lucknow suffered “bird strike” while taking off from New Delhi airport on Tuesday.
After 47 minutes long flight, the aircraft landed safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh international airport, but hours later it was grounded by aircraft engineers following close inspection.
On anonymity, Lucknow airport official sources said, the pilots of the flight sensed bird strike near lower left fuselage of aircraft at 2,600 feet while climbing above Delhi air following take off from Indira Gandhi airport.
“After the hit, pilots sensed burning smell inside the cockpit and cabin for five to six minutes. However, aircraft dashboard/ instrument panels were showing normal readings to indicate aircraft’s health, therefore the journey was continued,” said the source.
